What is teeth whitening?
Even if your dental hygiene practices are near perfect, staining and discoloration can still naturally occur on your teeth over time. But don’t worry! Our Maryville orthodontics team is ready to help you get your smile back with Opalescence Boost teeth whitening gel. This gel will quickly, safely, and effectively provide a brighter smile! The gel is chemically activated and expertly applied in our office. No hot or uncomfortable LED teeth-whitening lights are necessary.
With only two or three 20-minute treatments in a single sitting, you can gain a brighter smile! Opalescence Boost begins to work as soon as it is on your teeth and provides noticeable whitening results in about an hour.
How to whiten teeth
There are many methods to go about whitening teeth. Although, these are not the most effective or safe teeth whitening methods. These may include:
- Teeth whitening strips
- Teeth whitening kits
- DIY teeth whitening
- Natural teeth whitening methods
Visiting a dental office with an experienced staff, like Owens Orthodontics, for professional treatment is the best teeth whitening method.
What to expect from Opalescence Teeth Whitening
We recommend visiting your primary dentist for a checkup before you come to our office for a whitening treatment. A dentist can help determine whether a whitening treatment is best after reviewing your teeth and gum health with you. This routine checkup also eliminates plaque and surface stains on your teeth, creating a smooth surface to make your treatment more effective.
Once you’ve visited your dentist, you can come in for your appointment with us. At our Maryville orthodontist office, you will share some medical history, like existing health conditions or tooth implants. Then, we can begin your treatment.
Dr. Owens will determine the beginning shade of your teeth and then place a lip and cheek retractor to keep your tongue and lips clear of the whitening gel and a protective barrier around your gumline to prevent the gel from irritating your gums.
Once your gums, lips, and tongue are protected, we will use a gentle, brushed tip to apply Opalescence Boost to your teeth. The gel will remain on your teeth for 20 minutes before being suctioned off.
Once suctioned off, we will evaluate the shade change of your teeth and determine if you need another application based on your goals. The gel can be applied up to three times in one treatment session.
Following the final gel application, the protective barrier and retractor are easily removable, and you will notice a brighter smile!
