Metal braces

Traditional metal braces have been used in orthodontic treatment for decades because they are one of the most effective and affordable ways to align teeth.

Our traditional braces comprise three parts:

• Brackets: Stainless steel brackets fused to the teeth with specialized dental cement.
• Archwire: Thin wire connecting each bracket that applies pressure that pulls teeth into place.
• Ligature elastic: Small ties or bands that fasten the archwires to the brackets. You can customize your rubber bands with your choice of color.

For children, our orthodontist assesses each situation over time to see how growth changes their mouths before determining if braces are necessary. We’ll apply the appropriate treatment and provide all the information you need for effective at-home care.

Your treatment will start with a consultation appointment, where our orthodontist will assess your smile and determine your treatment needs. We’ll then schedule a time to install your braces. Most patients wear their braces for 18 to 24 months. Some patients may require additional rubber bands or headgear, depending on the situation.

You’ll come back to the office every few weeks so we can check your progress and tighten your archwires if necessary. You’ll receive a retainer to wear after removing your braces for lasting results.
